Standing committees include:
The Membership Committee seeks to recruit new and exciting members to join our social club. We invite community leaders from the private, public and non-profit sectors to join and become a part of this outstanding group with reciprocal clubs throughout the world. The Membership Committee has a long tradition of fostering the camaraderie and business opportunities of its members. We have consistently grown the membership to create a collection of highly motivated, fun and interesting people who can build lifelong friendships with one another. The Committee group encourages a fun, creative and interactive dialogue where members are invited to come up with new and innovative methods of recruiting the best members.
The Food and Beverage Committee meets once each quarter to hear from our Executive Chef about the proposals for the menu for that quarter. We discuss and comment upon the menu suggestions, and we review the special menus for events. Periodically members of the committee meet to taste wines to recommend for our wine list. We seek input from our Food and Beverage Director for the selection of wines. The Food and Beverage Committee has been a standing committee for as long as I can remember. Our goal is to make sure that our meals for member lunches, dinners, Bistro nights, and for our events, maintain the high standard that we are proud of and known for in this community.
The Activities Committee strives to provide interesting and entertaining events for our members of the Club. We have a long tradition of hosting dynamic and engaging events throughout the year, such as: “Learn over Lunch”, “Ladies who Lunch”, “Bistro hors d’oeuvres on Friday evenings” and “Ladies Tea and Talk.” Each of these event series focuses on a speaker who’s invited to share their insights on a particular subject. Other event traditions include our annual Fiesta Party, Easter Sunday Brunch, Valentine’s Day Dinner, all of which have lively entertainment and festive décor. Throughout the year, we have many themed mixers where our members are encouraged to mix and mingle…fostering friendships and business connections. On a weekly basis, Club members enjoy a Piano Lounge followed by Bistro Dinner – truly an elegant evening out. The Committee comprises members of various backgrounds and abilities, who have an enthusiasm to produce varied activities that all Club Members will enjoy. The Activities Committee encourages members of the Committee to bring new and innovative ideas for presenting interesting events to the Club, and to help build community among our members.
The House Committee endeavors to create a warm and comfortable environment within the Clubhouse, plus an attractive and beautiful appearance of the outdoor gardens. University Club of Santa Barbara Members take great pride in the mansion and it’s grounds, and the House Committee continues the tradition of beautification for all to enjoy. Meeting quarterly, the group makes decisions on the overall improvement of the House and Gardens. We welcome any other members to become a part of the House Committee, offering input, suggestions and individual expertise.
